MAKERSPACE

​A place to create, play, learn, grow skills, and develop. 

Use of the CornerStone lower level will be FREE for youth to hang out and be creative during open center hours. To keep our doors open wide, the center and makerspace will be available to adults for a daily rate or monthly membership.

Membership Info

​Our retail and gift shop highlights locally crafted items produced by youth and local artists. The makerspace provides tools and space that may not be otherwise available to entrepreneurs and creators of all ages.  A big thank you do donors & supporters who have helped raise funds for the equipment in our makerspace. ​

​We were blessed to receive Legacy Grant Funding from Lake Region Arts Council​ to help provide many of the makerspace equipment you will see and use!

Why?

Here's what we heard...

Community members called for more art, creativity, and entrepreneurial support in the town of Frazee, and we responded. A survey was conducted locally in 2022 to identify what youth and adults in Frazee want to create in the Makerspace. A total of 85 people filled out the survey with 58% being youth, 27% being ages 36-50 and equal distribution from ages 19-25, 26-35, and 50-67.

Youth and adults in Frazee-Vergas were provided a list of 30+ options of what activities they could participate in or what they want to produce.  Here are the top ten!

We also learned:

• People are most excited about: Screen-printing, Soap and Candle Making, Laser Engraving, Wood Burning, Lego Car
• Thoughts about usage: People identified that 45% of persons would utilize this space 1 or more times per week, and of those 14% would utilize it 3+ times per week.  An additional 25% would utilize it more than once a month. 
• Identifying support:  Most people are willing to pay for the Makerspace use.  Only 9% of people stated they would not be willing to pay a fee for the use of equipment/services in the space.

Members can access the equipment everyday from 7am to 10pm by using their door code.

How?

​We've come so far...

​​​With building delays due to the COVID-19 epidemic, CornerStone found different ways so show up in a meaningful way. From community events to a drive-in movie screen, to art murals, we have built a positive presence in the Frazee-Vergas community!

​Upon the incredible generosity of the United Methodist Church of Frazee, Essentia Health, LRAC and so many supporters along the way, construction of the community center and makerspace has been underway.

​And we can't wait to see what else we create together...
